Footprints in the snow come in all shapes and sizes, big, small, some shallow, some deep. We as spirit come in all shapes and sizes too. All of us have different perspectives of life and we all go through various phases.
We know as children the sheer delight and excitement we feel when making those first footprints in the freshly fallen snow. So it is when we start to embark on searching for the great spiritual truths. The footprints in the snow symbolise the lasting impression we make on those people around us. Have these impressions been good or bad, we have to be honest with ourselves and face up to our shortcomings. As we move forward through our earthly existence we learn important lessons and gain experiences, which make those footprints deeper and more meaningful.
Some people are lucky enough to be born a natural medium or have many spiritual experiences to relate. Many of us start our pathway with a small or shallow footprint in the snow by having just an inkling that there is something more after we pass from this material life. Maybe we don’t know why we feel this way, but we just know in our heart.
The majority of us have to live our material existence by forming our career and raising our families before we can commit the time needed to work for spirit.
As we start to investigate spiritual truths and begin to experience some of the different phenomena, we listen to other people’s point of view; we start to gain inner knowledge, which helps us to expand our minds and hearts.
Don’t except blindly everything you are told, if it doesn’t feel right, question it, disagree with it, discard it or save it for later down the line.
You will find that as you grow spiritually, so your viewpoint on things will change. It doesn’t mean you were wrong before, but as you progress the greater your knowledge and understanding becomes. Therefore with more information you may come to new conclusions.
Never let anyone tell you that your thoughts, beliefs or way of working with spirit is wrong. We are individuals and as individuals we have different ways of progressing and learning. After all as they say what is right for one person is not necessarily right for another.
Beware of those people who are dogmatic in their approach and those who are ruled by ego. Whilst we all need basic ground rules to work to, we must not lose sight of the fact that it is our guides and helpers that mould the way we work for spirit. This comes with a gradual blending of energies between you and your helpers, which in the fullness of time will build complete trust.
Whilst we need to learn presentation skills we do not need to lose our individual personality. Platform workers need to be many and diverse to cover all tastes.
We can through development, melt the snow, by becoming a much more understanding and tolerant person. Someone who is ready to listen to those who are troubled, those who are lonely or those who are bereaved. Be there to comfort when needed, be that rock to lean on.
As that snow gets deeper, the going gets tougher, we may need those snow shoes. Don’t give up; begin to search within, to gain even deeper strength and understanding. We come closer to our spirit friends, guides and helpers by allowing them to draw ever closer to us and let our energies blend together.
In this deeper understanding we will experience the feelings of unconditional love from our loved ones and those who work with us in spirit. This can bring to the surface some very powerful emotions that we may need to release when getting in touch with the true self. We may find things that we don’t like about ourselves. Things that we may need to work on. None of us is perfect, but we all need to keep trying to reach that bit closer to God.
When we have reached a greater depth of understanding, we can start to share our knowledge with others who are beginning their pathway. We can help them to become a channel for spirit communication.
If we wish to take even deeper steps into that snow, we can totally commit to spirit by allowing them to take us into an altered state of consciousness more commonly called a trance. This allows the communicators to come and talk directly with circle members or congregations. Often great philosophy will be given from spirit guides, who have a much deeper knowledge and understanding than we do. It’s always a great privilege to listen to the great spiritual truths.
When you have gained knowledge, never hold it back, always share it with others. Never think I wish I could be as good as this person or that person. You should not underestimate your own ability, just be as good as you can be. There is plenty of room for everyone in this world no one person is any better than the next.
In conclusion spirit pathways are many and diverse, so make those footprints in the snow matter, by melting peoples hearts and remember these prophetic words “If you believe you can love without feeling pain, then you must believe that you can run through the snow without leaving footprints”

Emotion is something all of us experience in one way or another through our life. One of the most emotional experiences is bringing a new life into the world. We have nine months of anticipating what is to come. Will it be a boy or a girl, will it be healthy, who will it take after and what name should we choose. When the time comes and the child is born, you have a sense of relief that the child has been born safely and the struggle and pain of the birth is over. Then you feel the sheer joy of becoming a parent. You may ask yourself, how could I produce something so beautiful, so perfect, so precious and so vulnerable. Your heart feels as if it could burst with the love feel for your newborn child.
When we find spirit in our lives it is like being reborn. Its new and exciting, so much to learn, so much to experience. The last piece of the jigsaw is put into place to give us contentment we need for a well-balanced life. As a child we have to develop and learn over many years. There is no substitute for experience. Of course not all emotion is good and we have to experience both sides of the coin. We will all lose someone close at sometime in our lives. There are several different emotions we have to work through at these times. We will probably feel very angry that our loved one has been snatched away from us. We may feel guilty that we have not done everything we could or that our last words were not of love. We miss the physical person, we miss the hugs and kisses.
When we have a close link with the spirit world we learn that we are not really separated from our loved ones. We of course miss the physical contact with them but we know that they continue to live in another dimension that exists around us. We also know that we can send out thoughts and questions to them at any time and answers will be given in due course. If we are in the early stages of development we may not always be aware of the answers, which come in various ways. If the answer is put into our mind, we may think it is our thought and not that of spirit influence. We will also encounter other problems on our spiritual pathway regarding the lessons we need to learn. At all times it is important to remember that we are all special and we are all individual. Whilst the basics of spirit development and progression can be taught, we must not lose sight of our inner self. That spark of spirit that is within us all will guide us in the way that is right for us. If you can sit in a circle you must make sure that it feels right for you. If you feel uncomfortable in any way it will adversely affect your progress. Don’t ever let the negative emotion of jealousy to creep in. If someone appears to be developing faster than you, don’t be put off. We all develop uniquely, there is no hard and fast rule as to the length of time we take to develop or the direction in which we will be lead. Just give your unconditional love and energy to spirit and make that commitment. The rest will come naturally at the time in your life that is right for you. Your development will come when you are ready to receive it at a pace that suits you. Remember to always be true to yourself and spirit doing everything with love in your heart. Always show appreciation for what you are given by sending out prayers of thanks. You will eventually become aware of your spirit guides and helpers who are always keen for you to grow spiritually. Getting to know your guides and helpers is a very emotional experience, there is nothing to compare with this in the material world. The immense power that comes with unconditional love is a wonderful experience to have. The blending of one spirit with another, with no jealousy or rivalry getting in the way. No ifs ands or buts, just pure unadulterated divine love. When you experience this it will bring tears of happiness and joy flooding to the surface. We all know the joy of learning new things and being able to pass the knowledge to others. The joy of giving ourselves, the emotion when we achieve goals in our life and being appreciated by others. The greatest joy of all is being part of the whole, a part of that one great light and energy we call God, from which we all receive infinite unconditional love.
Emotion is life, is energy, is colour, is feeling, is anger, but hopefully most of all is love.

There is great truth in the words of the hymn “All things bright and beautiful all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful the Lord God made them all”. We all learn this as children in the springtime of our existence.
There are many beautiful things that we can appreciate in the springtime. It is one of the most uplifting of the seasons. It follows the short days and long dark nights of Winter when nature sleeps, ready to awaken to a new beginning, a new cycle of life. It is likened to spirit conception, it has a certain naivety, a newness. The fresh feeling like dew on the grass, cleansing all things, the new dawn, the birth of a season.
We have wonderful plants and flowers to brighten our lives. They start as seeds or bulbs, which draw on the nutrients in mother earth. They rely on the sun and the rain to help them grow into strong healthy specimens that will produce buds that blossom.
The fully-grown flowers in all their radiant colours bring beauty to our world for all to enjoy. Remember the wonderful words written by William Wordsworth about the daffodils the last two lines of which are “and then my heart with pleasure fills and dances with the daffodils”.
In spring we also look forward to seeing the new lambs leaping about in the fields, such a delight to behold. The birds that return from sunnier climes, their tiny forms so delicately put together, their grace and beauty light up our lives.
Our spirit is like a seed, that tiny spark of within us all at birth. In the springtime of our life we start to develop and grow just like the flowers. We begin to learn and expand our minds, reaching out for sustenance and love. We start to look for our direction in life, we have our dreams, our hopes and aspirations of what our lives will become.
When we pass to the spirit world it is again a new beginning but in a different dimension. We leave behind the material world and find the divine beauty of the spiritual realms where once again we can start to grow and bloom. Our nourishment now being the knowledge and understanding of the great spiritual truths and of course that unconditional love that is most important.
Let us now in this troubled world plant seeds of peace and harmony in the minds of the aggressors in our world. May Mother Earth show us all many beautiful springtime’s in our lives.
